Background
The Geomagnetism Program is currently working to install a new observatory near Sand Point on Popof in the Aleutian Islands. A contract for the property and assistance with operation of the observatory has been established with the Shumagin Native Corporation. The buildings are being prefabricated and will be shipped to the island for installation. The Shumagin observatory will use the Program’s new acquisition-transportation system for one-second resolution data.
